My friend Will has a great phrase when imitating his Filipino Mom, usually imitated in a thick Tagalog accent: “I will clobber you with my chinelas,” or slippers. I always found the phrase funny and imagined that the only thing Filipino parents do is pass a Magic Mike and beat their children. (This is because I’m Chinese, and thus, we’re only susceptible to psychological abuse.)
Wear this Palo Ringer T-shirt ($25) as a reminder of your childhood or use it to discipline your children; the choice is yours.
(Editors note: “Palo” means “beat, whip or spank” in Tagalog. Hat tip: Mark A.)
